LARNED — The Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility is pleased to announce the following Employees of the Quarter: Uniformed Employee of the Quarter, Ryan Snowdon, Corrections Officer I; Non-Uniformed Employee, Shala Smith, Program Consultant I; and Contract Employee, Jodi Maciel, Registered Nurse.
Officer Snowdon began his career with LCMHF in March of 2019, as a Corrections Officer I. He is currently assigned as the Officer in Charge of the F4 Living Unit on the 2-10 shift.
COI Snowdon’s nomination reads, Officer Snowdon has shown a fantastic ability to deal with all situations arising from management of offenders. He is firm, fair, and consistent. Although he has been with LCMHF less than a year, he has become integral to maintaining a higher level of accountability among the offenders. He is always willing to assister other officers and does so with a good attitude. He is a model of what a good Correctional Officer should be.
Officer Snowdon is an asset to both LCMHF and the Kansas Department of Corrections and is deserving of this honor.
Program Consultant Shala Smith began her career with LCMHF in 2003 as an Activity Therapist. In 2017, she took on the role as a Program Consultant. Shala currently provides re-entry programming for adult male offenders.
Her nomination reads, Shala is one of those people who consistently displays a positive attitude. She was part of a team that developed a program orientation group called “Exploring Options” for new offenders. She helps provide the programming and is an outstanding facilitator. Shala is glad to assist anytime there is a need. Her upbeat attitude is infectious.
She exemplifies the word teamwork and LCMHF is very fortunate to have a staff member that works as hard as she does.
RN Jodi Maciel began working with LCMHF’s health care provider in November of 2016. She is currently assigned to the dayshift and sees offenders at both LCMHF’s Central and West Units.
Her nomination reads, Jodi works hard each shift she is here. She has great time management and can accomplish multiple tasks during the day. She follows all processes to ensure patient care is met. Her documentation is clear and detailed for every patient she encounters. Jodi routinely picks up extra shifts to help make sure all schedule needs are met. She also trains new nursing staff and continues to make sure she is up to date on policy and procedure.
RN Maciel is a great asset to both Corizon Health Services and LCMHF.
