Whooping cranes
new kl whooping cranes
Endangered whooping cranes have been spotted at Cheyenne Bottoms. The four pictured above were in Pool 1A near the Claflin dike on Tuesday morning. Two more were spotted in Pool 1C. The best time to see the cranes is in the morning or late afternoon, according to Pam Martin, biologist at the KansasWetlands Education Center. KWEC employees will show bird watchers on a map where the latest spottings were or check the KWEC website at wetlandcenter.fhsu.edu for the latest information. - photo by KAREN LA PIERRE
