Kansas Highway Patrol

Henry R. Duryee, 78, from Dorrance, was taken to Russell Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries on Saturday, after his pickup ran a stop sign at Fourth and Ober St. in Russell and hit an International truck driven by Michael Wayne Lewis, 49, of Rush Center. Lewis was not injured.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made three ambulance runs last Thursday, five Friday, five Saturday and four Sunday.

At 9:52 p.m. Thursday they extinguished a small ditch fire on South U.S. 281.

At 10:56 p.m. Thursday they extinguished a fire in a pile of rubbish at 31 SW 20 Road that was caused by fireworks.

At 10:01 a.m. Friday they were dispatched to 514 Cleveland St. for a fire in the engine compartment of a vehicle. Damage was estimated at $4,000.

An automatic alarm at 3216 16th St. was activated by cooking Sunday morning.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A car hit a deer on NE K-156, three to five miles south of Claflin, around 7 a.m. Thursday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.

Asphalt shingles had been dumped in the road and ditch in the 100 block of NW 70 Road, it was discovered Thursday morning.

A deputy put up five or six head of cattle on the west side of North U.S. 281 at NW 170 Road Thursday morning.

 

Great Bend Police

A burglary and theft of an air conditioner from 5507 10th St. was reported Thursday.

An individual was served a citation for allegedly texting and calling someone in violation of a protective order.

A vehicle driven by Jefferey Scott was southbound on Patton Road at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and struck a vehicle driven by Jessica Odin, who was eastbound on Broadway making a right turn.

Two people were served notice to appear in municipal court for alleged thefts from Walmart.

A woman reported an unknown person setting up a Twitter account in her name and putting obscene messages on it.
