Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made four ambulance runs Wednesday.
At 3:55 p.m. units responded to 149 NW 60 Ave., where they found flames coming from an underground cellar. The fire was quickly extinguished. Inside they found a propane bottle that was leaking. A possible source of ignition was a water pump in the same area.
There was also a small fire at 5 p.m. on the river dike around Heizer Street.

Great Bend Police
Derek Marley, 30, Great Bend, was arrested at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday at 3415 18th St. He was booked in the county jail on charges of cultivation or distribution of a controlled substance, no tax stamp and drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $100,000.
Someone broke the back window on a truck at 2607 Forest Ave., and the back window of a vehicle at 3810 17th St.
A known person was served a notice to appear in municipal court on a charge of battery, at 1:19 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of 21st St.

Barton County Sheriff
There was a pursuit at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, at 180 South U.S. 281. The suspect got away.
Theft of a cell phone at Barton Community College was reported.

Kansas Highway Patrol
Four people from Dodge City were in a 2006 Hummer that went off Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County at 3:58 p.m. Thursday, after blowing a rear tire. Three were taken to Ellsworth Medical Center. A fourth, Margarita Sanchez, 49, was flown to Hays Medical Center by Lifewatch. The westbound vehicle driven by Isaac Zuniga, 21, blew a rear tire 2.1 miles east of the K-232 junction. The Hummer entered the north ditch and rolled one time. A 6-month-old infant was not injured but was taken to the hospital with the others. The fourth occupant of the vehicle was Estrella Chavez, 18. She was taken to the hospital with injures and was the only occupant not wearing a safety restraint.
The vehicle was removed by the Ellsworth Service Center.
