Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Friday, four Saturday, four Sunday and three Monday.
Firefighters were dispatched to 103 Pine St. at 103 p.m. Friday, where some people were cooking over a fire in a barrel. The fire was put out.
A resident at 1119 Washington St. smelled smoke and called the fire department at 1:11 a.m. Sunday. There was no fire, but a problem was found in the water heater, which was shut off.
At 7:58 p.m. Monday, firefighters received a report of illegal burning in the 300 block of Main St. in Dundee, but they did not find anything.
Great Bend Police
Three forged checks were reported Monday at Ampride, 2302 10th St.
A vehicle driven by Debra Holkin backed into a vehicle driven by Eugene Yarmer in the 1900 block of Main St. at 11:40 a.m. Monday.
A gas skip at 1315 10th St. was reported at 3:18 p.m.
Theft of copper wire from 601 Baker Ave. was reported.
On Monday night, an individual reported a known person stealing his TV and speakers from a Great Bend residence. The suspect was arrested on Sherman St. at 12:02 a.m. for possession of meth and booked into jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Kansas Highway Patrol
Geraldine Jackson, 81, Larned, was taken to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned following a one-vehicle accident at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pawnee County. The accident occurred on 20th Road, just south of K-19 and a quarter mile east of Road J in the Radium area. Jackson was driving west in a Ford truck when she lost control of the vehicle and over-corrected. The truck rolled one time and then continued eastbound on the road before coming to rest. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Deborah L. Parks, 51, Macksville, was injured in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday in Stafford County. The accident occurred around 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of SW 70th St., approximately 1.5 miles east of the SW 70th St. junction with the Macksville Blacktop. She was westbound on SW 70th St. in a Ford truck when, for unknown reason, it entered the north ditch. She lost control of the vehicle, which crossed both lanes of traffic before entered the south ditch and rolling into the field. She was taken to the Stafford County hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.
