Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters were dispatched to the Redbarn Pet Products plant, 30 SE 10 Road, at 12:48 a.m. Sunday after a hose broke, causing an anhydrous ammonia leak inside a building. It was shut off by an employee. Firefighters opened doors to ventilate and determined it was safe for people to return to the building.
At 1 a.m. Sunday, they received a report of a tank battery on fire, 1 mile west of Dundee at SW 80 Ave. and SW 60 Road. It was actually an old shed that caught fire after a nearby tree was hit by lightning. Nothing of value was reportedly in the shed, which was destroyed.
They were dispatched to 250 N. Washington at 1:07 p.m. Sunday. They checked the building but found no fire.
At 5:07 a.m. Monday, there was a false alarm at 1207 Patton Road.
At 8:52 a.m. Tuesday there was a fire at 1108 Morton St.
Firefighters made seven ambulance runs Friday, three Saturday, six Sunday, and two Monday.
Barton County Sheriff
A non-injury accident was reported at 11:55 a.m. Friday at 64 Karen St., Great Bend.
Gas and batteries were stolen from NE 180 Road and NE 150 Ave., it was reported Saturday.
Officers were on the lookout for a gold Pontiac or Oldsmobile after a gas skip at 5:22 p.m. Saturday at a convenience store in St. John.
A vehicle hit a deer at 9:17 p.m. on SW 40 Ave. and West U.S. 56.
An altercation was reported at 6:27 p.m. Sunday at SW 5 Ave. and SW 10 Road. One subject reportedly battered another, and one subject reportedly entered the house firing a BB gun (or paintball gun).
A vehicle hit a deer at 10:09 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of North U.S. 281, a quarter of a mile north of the brick plant.

Theft of a dog from 925 Jefferson St. was reported Friday.
A known person allegedly stole an iPad from 301 Maple St. Loss was $450.
A wallet was reportedly stolen at Walmart.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle at 1911 Lakin Ave., it was reported Saturday.
A burglary was reported at 903 Washington St. after someone broke into a storage shed and took items and cash.
Theft of rented property from Rent-A-Center, 3727 10th St., was reported.
A purse and money were reportedly stolen from Dillon’s, 1811 Main.
A wallet and cell phone left at the American Legion, 1011 Kansas Ave., were stolen, it was reported Sunday. Loss was $550.
A large wench was unbolted and stolen off a trailer at 522 Morton St., it was reported Sunday. Loss was $1,500.
Wheels were reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the alley at 1114 Odell St.
GrayWolf Burch was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed at 5 p.m. Sunday and lost control of the vehicle, which hit a tree in the 4800 block of 17th St. Terrace. Burch was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, treated and released.
A burglary was reported at 1027 Garfield St. Someone broke into the house and took electronics.
Someone took a crowbar from an unlocked vehicle at 914 Stone St., it was reported Monday.
Windows were shot on train windows in the 600 block of Baker Ave.
A service van was reportedly stolen from 3419 18th St.
A Kansas driver’s license and other items were taken from a vehicle at 901 Stone St.
Vehicles driven by Larry Teichmann and Ruth Ryan collided at 11 a.m. in the 2300 block of Washington St.
Vehicles driven by Donald Mai and Kaulin Thorne collided at 11:47 a.m. at 12th and Kansas.
Two knives and a checkbook were reportedly stolen from 905 Stone St.
An identity theft case was taken after someone used an individual’s name and personal information to set up accounts.
A stereo was stolen from a vehicle at 2109 27th St.
