Great Bend Police
Vehicles driven by Leroy Wilhelm and Wade Colvin collided at 9:18 a.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of 10th St.
A cow was seen on 24th St. over the noon hour.
Calvin Hinz allegedly stole items from Dillon’s, 4107 10th St., it was reported Thursday. He was located and arrested on a Pawnee County warrant for theft of property or services, and booked into the Barton County Jail. He was released after posting a $1,250 cash/surety bond.
Theft from a newspaper machine at 1906 Main was reported.
On Friday morning, theft of items from a residence at 900 9th St. was reported.

Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made five ambulance runs Wednesday and two Thursday.
At 2:33 p.m. Wednesday they responded to a residential alarm that was set off from cooking, but found no fire. At 11:46 p.m. they responded to 87 SW 10 Ave. for a possible structure fire where the occupant was smelling smoke. The structure was checked and no fire was found.
At 11:33 a.m. Thursday they responded to the alfalfa pellet mill at 379 NW 40 Road for a possible structure fire. They arrived to find heavy white smoke coming from the roof vent and doors of the building that the mill was housed in. The smoke and fire were traced back to the one of the processing bins. A bad bearing was found that was sparking, which caused a fire in filter bags. Units remained on the scene until all filter bags were wet down and free of embers.

Barton County Sheriff
A pop bottle “bomb” was exploded in a mailbox at 323 SE 80 Ave., destroying the mailbox, it was reported Thursday.
A women was battered in the 500 block of NW 20 Ave., it was reported Thursday.
An all terrain vehicle was stolen from 214 SW 40 Ave., possibly Wednesday night.
