Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters were dispatched to a hay bale fire at Alfalfa Pellets LLC, 379 NW 40 Road, at 5 p.m. on Saturday. They found two smoking bales.
Firefighters made four emergency medical service runs on Friday, five Saturday and four Sunday. They were on standby Friday and Saturday at the Barton County Fair. There were three false alarms on Friday, including one smoke detector malfunction, and one smoke detector malfunction on Sunday.

Barton County Sheriff
A non-injury crash was reported at 5:51 a.m. Friday on NE K-156 at mile marker 136.
Burglary was reported in the 300 block of North Washington Ave., Great Bend.
Forgery was reported at 10th St. and Kiowa Road, Great Bend.
Burglary was reported Saturday at 324 Marla St. in Great Bend.
An injury crash was reported at 11:09 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Broadway Ave., Great Bend.
A possible burglary in progress was reported at 10:04 p.m. Sunday at the Salvation Army, 2545 10th St., Great Bend.

Great Bend Police
A non-injury crash was reported at 9:08 p.m. Friday at Main and Lakin.
Theft of a license plate at 2514 Walnut Dr. was reported.
A subject reported being battered by Great Bend resident Josh Bitter at 8:46 a.m. Saturday at 1915 8th St. Bitter was arrested and booked on a charge of aggravated battery, with bond set at $75,000.
A purse was reportedly stolen at McDonald’s.
Criminal use of a financial card was reported at 4200 Quail Creek Dr.
Checks were reported stolen from 2515 Walnut Dr.
Theft/forgery cases were taken at 10th Street businesses: Wal-Mart, T&L Fireworks, Loves Country Store and Dollar General. Theft and theft of fuel were reported at Casey’s General Store, 1315 10th St.
A false alarm case was taken around 4:30 p.m. Saturday after a man in Great Bend reported not feeling well and was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital by Emergency Medical Service. At 8:16 p.m. he was back at his residence and wanted someone to call 911 for his chest hurting. Melbra Orr of Great Bend was booked into the jail for giving false alarm, with bond set at $1,000.
A male came to a residence in the 800 block of Second Street at 7:16 p.m. Saturday advising he had been battered. Officers were unable to make contact with the victim.
A subject was reported shoplifting items at Wal-Mart on Sunday.
Theft of a 60-day tag at 2708 12th St. was reported.
A solar light was reportedly stolen from 2813 25th St.
GBPD K-9 Officer Shane Becker and dog Lazar were summoned to a traffic stop at 2:22 p.m. Sunday at 10th and Jefferson, and a narcotics arrest was made there.
A forgery was reported at The Page.
A hit-and-run crash was reported at Stone Lake.
Sgt. Ryan DeYoung reported attempting to contact a subject on a bike at 3:23 a.m. Monday in the vicinity of Hubbard and Lakin. The subject fled on foot.
