Get ready to return to the danger zone.

Tom Cruise said this week that rumors of a Top Gun 2 are definitely true and the film will likely come out sometime next year, Entertainment Weekly reported.

It is definitely happening. he told the Australian television program Sunrise this week.

"It's true," Cruise said, according to USA Today. "I'm going to start probably in the next year. I know, it's happening. It's definitely happening. You're the first people I've said it to, you asked me and so I'm telling you.

Talk over a follow-up film has circulated for months. In 2015, Cruise said he hoped to play the character Maverick again. Even last fall, Cruise said he and producer Jerry Bruckheimer wanted to figure out plans for a sequel, EW reported.

Rumors hit a fever pitch last January when Bruckheimer tweeted a photo of himself and Cruise.

Top Gun grossed the most amount of money for movies in 1986, and was the highest grossing PG rated film of that time, too, according to Box Office Mojo.

The film earned more than $179 million domestically with a $177 million foreign gross. It earned more than $8.1 million in its opening weekend.

More than money, the film was nominated for four Academy Awards and won for original song with Take My Breath Away by Berlin.
