DOWNS — Bill Bortz, 84, passed away Jan. 18, 2016, at his home in Downs. Born June 10, 1931, in Claflin, he was the son of Elmer and Ella (Hofmeister) Bortz.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; son, Eric (Rachel) Bortz of Ellinwood; daughter, Dianne Costlow of Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Zoe (Dave) Goheen of Downs, Jane (Dale) McKemey of Overland Park, and Janelda Bodnarchuck of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren (another on the way); six great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Theresa Koster and Stephanie Klasek; nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son John (1993); sister, JaNeva Hart; brother, LeRoy (1953); and step-son Stacy Stumma (2012).
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Downs. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Breast Friends Foundation, and Phillipsburg Hospice in care of the funeral home.
