Billy J. Krom, age 69 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on Thursday morning, September 9, 2021 at his home in Great Bend. Billy was born on February 29, 1952 at Wichita, Kansas to Clifford D. and Virginia (Lane) Krom. He was united in marriage to Sarah Pringle on October 25, 1974 at Great Bend, Kansas. Billy was employed as a Welder and Sheet-Metal Fabricator at Ruskin Manufacturing in Great Bend for over fifteen years and later worked as Quality Control Supervisor at Great Bend Industries in Great Bend for over twenty years prior to his retirement in 2017. He was a tireless volunteer for Sunflower Diversified Services in Great Bend. Billy loved following his kids’ and grandkids’ sports and activities, and enjoyed being a “shade tree grease-monkey” mechanic along with woodworking and stained glass creations. He was the ‘family’ handyman and in his retirement cared for his great-grandchildren .

Survivors include his wife Sarah Krom of Great Bend; son: Jay (& Tina) Krom of Baldwin, Kansas; daughter, Lindsey (& Shane) Krom-Craven of Great Bend; and son: Chad (& Tammy) Krom of Pratt, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Sterling McAllister, , Miranda Krom, Hunter Krom, Deklyn Craven, Kinsey Krom, Teagan Craven, Jace Krom, and Gavin Krom; three great-grandchildren: Remington Langston, Weston Krom, and Rhettleigh Langston; two brothers: Clifford (& Gina) Krom of Ellinwood, Kansas and Michael Krom of Hoisington, Kansas.; numerous nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward Krom.

In accordance with Billy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services or visitation. There will be a gathering of family and friends planned in the future. The family suggests memorial donations be made in his honor to either Sunflower Diversified Services or the Golden Belt Community Foundations to their Cancer Fund.
