Cheryl Ann Harrell 1946 - 2015

ANDOVER — Cheryl Ann Harrell, 68, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, March 29, 2015, at Life Care Center of Andover. Born Dec. 14, 1946, in Atchison she was the daughter of Wallace and Verdele Russell. In August 1965, she married the love of her life, Jon. She was a retired office manager for her husband’s optometry practice. She worked with Jon in their offices in Larned and Great Bend, building his optometry practice until his death Jan. 1, 2006.
A devout born again Christian, she was a member of the Fathers House Church in Hutchinson where she also served as an ordained deacon. She and Jon traveled frequently to work in the mission field, especially serving the Roca Blanca Mission Base in Oaxaca, Mexico. This was where they would spend their “vacations,” living in huts, sleeping on the ground and sharing the word of God by providing eye care to the poorest of the poor.
Other survivors include one son, Jerome Harrell (Bonnie) of Wichita; one daughter, Susan Aistrup (Paul) of Larned; two sisters, Connie Blosser (Neal) of Newton and Pat Lyon (Trent) of Park City; and six grandchildren. She was  preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Laura.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at The Father’s House, 1505 E. 20th, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a memorial fund with gifts being made to the Roca Blanca Mission Base, Oaxaca, Mexico and may be left in care of the funeral home.
