ARKANSAS CITY — Connie Mae Hunter, 82, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2023, lovingly surrounded by her daughters and family at her home in Arkansas City. She was born on Oct. 31, 1941, in Manilla, Ark. to John and Clara (Downs) Hunter. 

Connie grew up in Hays, Kan. and graduated from Hays High School in 1959. After marrying Saul D. Kreutzer, the couple moved to Great Bend. Connie later attended Barton County Community College to become a Cosmetologist. After leaving Great Bend, she moved to Liberty, Mo. and later settled in Mansfield, Texas for many years. She enjoyed reading, fishing and spending summer days at the lake. She loved to host holidays and was known by all to be a wonderful cook. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and bragged on all their accomplishments. Connie loved spending time with her brother, Archie Hunter, sister-in-law Lillian Hunter, of Hoisington and her sister, Shirley Hunter of Hays. Her siblings were always important to her throughout her life.  She was a very warm and loving mother and was cherished by her daughters. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Kreutzer of Arkansas City, Sandi (Rick) Lohr of Arkansas City and LeeAnn (Larry) Dyer of Weatherford, Texas; grandsons, Derek (Alexandria) Lohr of Burleson, Texas, Josh (Megan) Gilly of Elkhart, Texas; great-grandson Luke Lohr of Burleson, Texas and was expecting a great granddaughter, Charlie Mae Gilly in March, 2024; sister, Shirley (Jacques) Hunter of Hays; family friend, Norma and Jose Trejo; along with many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. We request all of Connie’s loved ones to join us for a Prayer Service at Saint Francis Cemetery in Munjor, Kan. beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.
