Dawn Nell Davis Brummitt, age 63, passed away on January 24, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK. Dawn was born on August 2, 1957 and lived her early years in Great Bend, KS and later moved to Wichita, KS. She attended Riverside Elementary, John Marshall Jr. High School and graduated in 1975 from North High School (where she was a cheerleader). She went on to attend Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1979 with a degree in Physical Education. While at OSU, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority where she made many lifelong friends.
After graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City, OK and went to work at Mustang Elementary School as a PE teacher. In 1987 Dawn moved to Coronado, CA where she took on many fun jobs before spending the last 30 years working with her husband, Scott Brummitt, at Raphael’s. She was loved by all their customers, who were not only customers, but also friends. She enjoyed shopping, playing golf, tennis and had great fun on dune buggy adventures in Glamis, CA with her brother, Larry. Dawn loved deeply and BIG! She loved her fur babies, Princess, Dillon and Ben and loved her many close friends, whom she enjoyed showering with thoughtful gifts. However, her most treasured relationship was with her husband, Scott. They dated for 25 years and have been happily married for the last 6 years. Dawn and Scott recently moved back to OKC to be closer to family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edna and Christian Fischer, her mom, Eleanor (Elle) Fischer and her dad, L.D. Davis. She is survived by her husband, Scott Brummitt, her stepmom, Marilyn Davis of Great Bend, KS and her brothers, Larry Davis of Dallas, TX and Mark Davis of Great Bend, KS.
The viewing will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 4 p.m.-9 p.m., with family to receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, KS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Church, 492 NE 140th St., Hudson, KS, with Pastors David Wesner and Tonya Andrews presiding. Interment will be in Peace Cemetery, Hudson, KS. A Celebration of Life service will be held in OKC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Infant Crisis Services, 4224 N. Lincoln Blvd., OKC, OK 73105 in her memory or in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
