Elton Carl Fischer 1933-2018

ST. JOHN — Elton Carl Fischer, age 85, passed away March 4, 2018 at Hospice House. He was born on March 3, 1933 at rural Seward, KS., the son of Bruno and Emma (Weigt) Fischer. A life-long resident of Seward, KS, he was a Farmer and Rancher, U.S. Army veteran and graduate of Hudson High School. On October 2, 1955 he married Shirley A. (Willinger) at Hudson, KS. His memberships include Peace Church, Hudson, KS, 50 year membership in the American Legion, Great Bend, KS, American Polled Hereford Association and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife Shirley, two daughters Tina D. Christians (Ray), Hoisington, KS, Penny L. Ellis (Chris), Wichita, KS; two sisters, Lynette Blakeslee, Great Bend, KS, Leona Fischer, Hutchinson, KS; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Steve Gill presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John with military honors. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Peace Church or Quilts of Valor in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, Ks 67576.
