James C. Burnette 1937-2014

James C. Burnette, 77, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Born June 6, 1937 at Salina, he was the son of Cecil Marion and Stella M. (Lackey) Burnette.
A Great Bend area resident since 1940, Mr. Burnette was owner and operator of Turner Electric and later worked at Larned State Hospital, retiring after 10 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include a son, Doug Burnette and his wife Laurie of Topeka; a daughter, Carla Klein of Great Bend; a sister; Dorothy Keenan of Great Bend; six grandchildren: John Stoss, Shelli Schmidt, Larami Parsons, Jenna Burnette, Megan Burnette, and Caleb Klein; and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 23,at 10 a.m. at Bryant Funeral Home, officiated by the Reverend Phyllis Flory.  Inurnment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla. at a later date.  There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
