GREAT BEND – Jayne Lea Shumate, 35, died  Nov. 7, 2014 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born Aug. 21, 1979 at Great Bend, the daughter of Victor L. and Jean A. (Keffer) Shumate.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Jayne was manager at Dairy Queen. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Job’s Daughters where she was Honor Queen, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include her father, Victor L. Shumate, Augusta; her mother, Jean A. Herrman and companion Larry Partridge, Great Bend; a daughter, Hadleigh Reneé Thorne, Great Bend; two brothers, Bennett W. Shumate and his companion Jackie Mai, Great Bend; and William A. Fields and his wife Amanda, Ellinwood; a sister, Shaminy R. Clone, Hoisington; grandmothers, Shirley Shumate, Erie; and Isa Fischer, Augusta; nieces and nephews: Aaron, Bradley, Isabelle, Damien, Domynick, Jaylynn, William, Jr., Shadow, Marcus, Lucian, Shelby, and Blaine.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Arthur and Frankie Keffer, and Paul Shumate and step-father Eugene Herrman.
Altar Society Rosary is scheduled at 4 p.m. and vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein as celebrant. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Jayne Lea Shumate Funeral Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
