TOPEKA — JoAnn Broadbooks, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 25, 2016, at Winter Meadows in Topeka. Born March 18, 1930, at Point View in Pawnee County, she was the daughter of Norris and Gladys (Frick) Campbell. On Sept 5, 1948, she married Galen Alva Broadbooks in Radium. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1996. A homemaker for most of her married life, she worked many years for Sweet Briar Clothing Store in Great Bend. She and her husband volunteered at the Elks Lodge in Great Bend. She also donated much time and effort for the Republican Party while living in Topeka the last few years of her life.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Broadbooks (Joyce) of Wildwood, Mo.; three daughters, Kathy Van Dam (Mike) of Topeka, Teri Zink (Dennis) of Bushton and Gail Barnard of Larned; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan Street in Topeka. Memorials may be given to First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka.
