ELLINWOOD — Judith Kay Ritchie, 69, died March 3 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born June 23, 1941 in Hays, she was the daughter of Roy Lafayette Bailes and Genevieve Marie Davis Bailes. In 1957, she married Aubrey Tatro at Medicine Lodge. She later married Clarence Randall Ritchie on April 29, 1961 in Medicine Lodge. He died on Dec. 30, 2007. A resident of Ellinwood since 2009, formerly of Great Bend and Medicine Lodge, she was employed at the Holiday Inn as the executive housekeeper, Central Kansas Medical Center in admissions and housekeeping and at Wal-Mart in Great Bend as a support manager.
Mrs. Ritchie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood.
Survivors include a son, Randall Joe Ritchie of Norton; a daughter, Nancy and husband Terry Winkelman of Ellinwood; a brother, Rex Bailes of Emporia; a sister, Karen Hudson of Emporia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Bud) Bailes and William Robert (Billy Bob) Bailes; three sisters, Betty Lou Edmonds, Rita May Bailes and Linda Lickly; and a nephew.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood with the Rev. Jeff Frakes officiating. Burial was at the Lakin Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Hospital or Children’s Mercy Hospital.
