Michel Alan Straub 1945 - 2021

Michel Alan Straub retired accountant, 75 lost his battle to cancer on April 3rd, 2021 in Wichita, KS. He was born on September 3rd, 1945 in Granville NSW Australia to Sylvester and Shirley (Freeman) Straub. He was the oldest of 10 children.

He landed by ship to US in California June 9, 1946. From there he arrived in Claflin, KS then later moved to Ellinwood, KS and attended school there. He served in the US Army then attended WSU, graduating with his Bachelor's Degree in accounting. Later in life he traveled to Russia with the Peace Corps. 

Mike enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and playing blackjack at the casino and spending time with his grandson, Harrison. He loved watching all sports on TV, especially WSU Shockers basketball and the KC Chiefs. Mike always had a bit of advice and memories to share with everyone.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Sylvester Straub and Shirley Kafka, brothers Christopher and Brian Straub.

Survived by his daughter Lori Cross and grandson Harrison Cross. Also children Terry, Diane and Richard Wirtz. Brothers Tim (Becky), Steve (Brenda), Kevin (Carol) and Randy (Nancy) Straub. Sisters Ali (Steve) Bohannan, Annie (Mark) Davis, and Crystal Straub. He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Rosary will be held Friday April 9th, 2021 at 7 p.m. and funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. April 10th, 2021 both at Christ the King Catholic Church Wichita, KS.

Mike will be laid to rest with his infant brother Christopher at Pleasant View Cemetery in Claflin, KS at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Robert J. Dole VA Center in Wichita.
