Rock Wayne Becker, 50, died Feb. 26 as a result of an automobile accident. Born Sept. 14, 1960, he was the son of Wayne and Karen (Brenner) Becker. On Dec. 31, 2006, he married Ivy Buhrle in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was president of WHB Inc. and a director and part owner of Becker Tire.
Rock founded Vine Foundation and Proclaim Jesus King Ministries and Golden Belt Regional Food Program an affiliation of Angel Food Ministries. He was an active elder and member of Faith Community Church, and was active in broadcasting a radio program to Africa and the Middle East with World Harvest Radio. He was a certified judge of Kansas City Barbecue Society.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Heath Duntz and wife Wanita of St. John, Jered Becker of Wichita, and Malaki Becker, of the home; two daughters, Vienna Becker and Adelia Becker, both of the home; a brother, Ricky D. Becker and wife Johnita of Hutchinson; two sisters, Tammy A. Hayden and husband Randy of Great Bend, and Teri K. Stephenson and husband Todd of Hutchinson; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist church in Great Bend with Pastor Sandy Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Barton County 4-H or American Bible Society, all in care of the funeral home.
