VALLEY CENTER — Ruth M. Torney, 82, passed away Dec. 15, 2012. Ruth was born April 8, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Vera
Musselman. Ruth and Martin Mateyec were united in marriage in LaCrosse on May 3, 1949. They were married for 39 years. Ruth and Jim Torney were united in marriage on June 8, 2002 in Wichita. They were together for ten years. Ruth loved fishing, gardening and floral design.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; her children, Charlene (Denis) Snyder of Georgetown, Texas and Martina Mateyec of Aurora, Colo,: stepdaughters, Gina Bell and Diana Lewis, both of Wichita; sister, Esther Gottberg of Salina; brothers, Russell of Burleson, Texas and Kirk of Harvey, La,; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and brothers, Jim, Dan, and Ross.
A celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 2555 Hyacinth in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in her loving memory with Good Shepherd Hospice, 439 N, McLean Blvd., Wichita, KS 67203. Contributions may be mailed.
