SPEARVILLE — Susie Ackerman, 95, died July 26, at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. Born March 7, 1919, in Pratt, she was the daughter of Michael and Alice Duncan Shanley. On Oct. 2, 1951, she married John F. Ackerman in Pratt. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2003. An area resident since 1951, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ackerman was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Spearville.
Survivors include three sons, John M. and wife Barbie, of Dodge City, Larry and wife Nancy, of Spearville and David D. and wife Brenda, of Dodge City; a daughter, Glenda Stoss and husband Dale, of Olmitz; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Bill, Mike and Jim Shanley.
Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at St. John Church in Spearville. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Fr. Rene Labrador and Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Spearville. Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.
