Vera Darlene Muth, 89, passed away July 24, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus. She was born June 23, 1934, in Kinsley, to Albert and Evangeline (Welsch) Korte. She married Alvin Muth on Aug. 8, 1954 in Kinsley.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Vera worked in the kitchen at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Great Bend for 29 years and previously had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she was awarded a gold pen with two blue pearls for not missing a day of work in two years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend, Eagles Club, and Sunflower Polka Club. Vera enjoyed dancing, painting, playing cards and slot machines.
Survivors include, her husband, Alvin Muth of the home; a daughter, Denise Appel and husband Rich of Rush Center; a son, Darren Muth and wife Ruth of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dianna Lynn Muth; two brothers, LeRoy Korte and Clay Korte; and three sisters, Viola Merwin, Violet Korte and Joy Cooper.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Adam Wutka presiding. Interment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Finer Mobile Home Park or Medicalodges of Great Bend, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
