Vote ‘yes’ on sales tax to strengthen Great Bend
Public Forum.jpg

To the editor:

Central Kansas Development Inc. (CKDI) was established over 50 years ago to provide economic development services to our local communities. CKDI has served that role by financing buildings, startup business loans and various other gap financing. All directed toward advancing the local business environment. Based on recent developments in our community, our board believes we are at a turning point for future growth – it is a very exciting time.

On November 3, the voters of Great Bend shall have an opportunity to take another step towards strengthening the community’s economic prosperity. By voting yes on the sales tax initiative, they can shift part of the cost of new infrastructure and wastewater treatment facility upgrades to visitors, rather than placing the entire burden on the Great Bend taxpayers. They can also sustain the recent momentum of renewed growth by supporting the sales tax initiative and issuance of the Star Bonds. These bonds will enhance a much needed and improved spectator experience at the racetrack which will draw people far and wide. The Star Bonds will also enable the construction of new recreational facilities designed to attract visitors, youth and adult sports teams and their families. These visitors will shop, dine and stay in Great Bend- and some after visiting might even decide to make this wonderful community their home.

Our board would encourage everyone to seek more information if you have questions and to Vote Yes on November 3rd.
