COFFEYVILLE – Coffeyville outscored the Barton Community College women 32-13 after halftime for a dominating 62-42 Jayhawk basketball victory.

Barton (19-7, 14-6 Jayhawk) stays ahead of Coffeyville (16-9, 12-7 Jayhawk). The Cougars play Garden City Saturday at home.

Grace John scored 10 points hitting two of Barton's four 3-pointers. Quezia Bertoni added six points, five rebounds and dished out two assists.

Darby Smith scored eight and Jaci Vonlintel two as the Cougars were outscored 20-10 off the bench.

Barton was outrebounded 45-29. Ojenuwa grabbed 10 rebounds and scored a season low five points. Vivian Onugha scored eight points with a season low two rebounds.

Ivy Fox led two Red Ravens in double figures with 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting with six rebounds. Tetona Woods-Blackowl dished out nine of Coffeyville's 19 assists to add to her 11 points. Jae'Mya Lyons finished with a bench high nine points. 

Combining for just seven points over the opening five minutes, the Cougars held their lone quarter lead 11-8 after the opening 10-minutes before trailing by one, 30-29 at the halftime break.

Vera Ojenuwa's bucket gave Barton its final lead 31-30,. Coffeyville producing a 10-0 run before extending to a 16-2 stretch building out a 46-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Holding Barton to just six points in the third quarter, the Red Ravens nearly matched it holding the Cougars to seven in the final frame to avenge an earlier loss in Great Bend.

NOTES Teams split the regular season for the third straight year. Barton leads 35-15 overall with Coffeyville leading 9-5 at home.
