Great Bend Braves lose, tie
DODGE CITY – Great Bend Brave Carson Umphres drove home two runs and scored on a wild pitch to salvage a 5-5 tie with Dodge City in a recent American Legion baseball doubleheader. Dodge City won the second game 3-1. The Legion Braves own a 4-3-1 record.
BRAVES 5, DODGE CITY 5 (tie) – Umphres delivered a key at-bat with an RBI double that scored Lane French in a 3-run first inning. Umphres scored on a wild pitch. Hunter Herrman scored on Mohr’s sacrifice fly. Dodge City’s Mauricio Ruiz scored on a second-inning error.
Herrman scored on Umphres’ RBI third-inning single for a 4-1 lead. Dodge City’s Layton Blatnick scored on Arec Mendoza’s fourth-inning sacrifice fly. Great Bend’s French scored on a passed ball for a 5-2 lead.
Dodge City rallied for a 5-5 tie. Grigsby scored on a passed ball. Keats Bogner scored on a Ramses Ruiz double. Mauricio Ruiz scored on a wild pitch for a 5-5 tie.
DODGE CITY 3, BRAVES 1 (G2) – Great Bend’s pitching was solid, but the Braves managed one run. Great Bend’s Owen Kaiser scored on Trey Millsap’s seventh-inning bases-loaded walk.
Dodge City’s Mauricio Ruiz doubled home Christopher Ruiz and Blatnick. Mauricio Ruiz scored on a Nicholas Carmona’s double for a 3-1 victory.
