ELLINWOOD – Larned scored two seventh-inning runs to sweep Ellinwood in Friday’s non-league softball doubleheader 9-3 and 5-4.

Larned (4-2, 2-2 CKL) travels to Nickerson (0-4) Tuesday. Ellinwood (3-3) plays at Ellsworth Tuesday.

LARNED 9, ELLINWOOD 3 (G1) – Untimely errors cost Ellinwood as the Eagles yielded six unearned runs. Three Larned runs scored on passed balls and wild pitches. Five runs scored on errors.

Larned scored four first-inning runs. Baylea Perez scored on a passed ball. Alea Makings scored on wild pitch. Nikki Taylor’s double scored Lynzi Myrick. Shaylee Martin scored on a passed ball.

Larned’s Makings and Grandy scored on a second-inning error for a 6-0 lead. Taylor, Ivory Muldrow and Perez scored on sixth-inning errors, but Makings was credited with an RBI on her groundball.

Ellinwood’s Kaitlyn Pohlman singled and Anahi Mendez and Ashlynn Raya singled to load the bases. Pohlman scored on a passed ball. But pitcher Nikki Taylor retired Kaitlyn Panning, Teigan Torres and Brooke McReynolds to work out of trouble.

The Eagles’ Lauren Petz scored on a passed ball  and Elaina Hernandez scored on Raya’s bases-loaded walk for a 9-3 final.

LARNED 5, ELLINWOOD 4 (G1) – Larned escaped an upset bid when Lynzi Myrick’s tripled scored Makings after a seventh-inning double for a 4-4 tie. Myrick scored the game-winning run.

Myrick singled home Makings for a 1-0 first-inning lead.

Ellinwood scored three fourth-inning runs. Elaina Hernandez singled home Lauren Petz. Anahi Mendez singled home Hernandez and Pohlman for a 3-1 lead.

Makings doubled home Perez and Makings scored for a 3-3 tie after five innings. Ellinwood’s Jocelyn Brown scored on a steal after the Eagles opened with a hit batter and two walks off Baylea Perez. Reliever Nikki Taylor retired the final six batters to earn the victory.
