LIBERAL — Great Bend Panther Kirsten Miessler enjoyed a seaosn-best effort as she tied for fifth medalist (48) in Monday’s Redskins Golf Invitational at Willow Tree Golf Course.

Great Bend also counted scores by eighth-place Allyson Kaiser (49), 11th-place Ashlyn Harbaugh (50) and 17th-place Daltrey Kurth (52).

"We enjoyed a beautiful day to play in Liberal and overall, for the nine holes, we were a little better, finishing third," said Great Bend coach Travis McAtee. "It was encouraging to have Kirsten score better. We had two girls earn individual medals.  We’re halfway through our regular season schedule, anxious to see what the second half brings."

The Panthers (199) finished third behind red-hot Hays High (182) and Dodge City (189) in the All-Western Athletic Conference tournament in perfect weather, 80-degrees with light wind.

Hays High’s Katie Dinkel (40) earned medalist honors, two strokes ahead of Dodge City’s Ashlyn Armstrong.

Kylee Mohr (51) earned third medalist honors in the junior varsity division.

"We also had three JV girls in the top 10, led by Kylee Mohr’s 51, one shot from the winning score," McAtee said.
