HOISINGTON — Concordia pitcher Cole Larsen struck out 17 Russell batters in a 1-0 shutout of the Broncos in the 4A Hoisington baseball regional championship game. Larsen has signed to play baseball at Cowley County.
Concordia’s Matthew James scored a fifth-inning run on an error when Larsen collided with Fritschen at first base on a bunt attempt. James walked and stole second base off hard-luck losing pitcher Cade Evans.
Russell’s Cole Fritschen doubled for the Broncos’ lone base hit. The Broncos put the ball in play four other times in seven innings.
