LARNED — Sometimes it is better to go straight to the source.
Get it from the horse’s mouth.
WHOA NELLIE! Here we go.
Conservative columnist Ann Coulter says, about soccer: “Soccer’s not a real sport. Everyone just runs up and down the field and every once in a while a ball accidentally goes in. That’s when we’re supposed to go wild. I’m already asleep by then.”
She continued, “The same people trying to push soccer on Americans are the ones demanding that we love HBO’s ‘Girls,’ light-rail, Beyonce and Hillary Clinton. Growing interest in soccer is a sign of ‘moral decay’ in America.”
Dale Borntreger of Millersburg, Indiana, says, “Even though the 3-pointer has dramatically affected scoring in the NBA, Jerry West still holds the record for average points scored in a playoff series (46.3), Lakers against the Bullets in 1965, 14 years before the arc was introduced!”
Concerning the Ed O’Bannon lawsuit against the NCAA, Sonny Vaccaro, who helped with the lawsuit says, “In a sense, we’ve won already. The Big Ten is now going back to four-year scholarships, schools are expanding medical care and developing athletes’ Bill of Rights. Do you think that is a coincidence that these conferences are all of a sudden doing things FOR the athletes instead of their pocketbooks?”
Remember William “The Refrigerator” Perry?
He was one of the first players over 300 pounds to play in the NFL.
A reporter once asked him about his massive size, and he responded with, “I was big even when I was little.”
Meet Amanda Blackhorse.
She, along with others, is involved in getting the Washington Redskins to change their name.
The best line I’ve heard is that the owner of the team has decided to change the name of the team because he’s embarrassed to use the name Washington!
Back to Amanda Blackhorse. She says, “What happens there (Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium) is just insane, the things they allow to go on. They are definitely in the group of offensive teams for sure and they are next on our list.”
TAKE A BITE OUTTA ME!
It really happened at the World Cup as Uruguay’s Luis Suarez showed off his new dental work when he took a chunk out of Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.
“Such behavior cannot be tolerated on any football pitch and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup, when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field,” said Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA disciplinary committee.
Speaking about the prospects for his 2014-15 basketball team, KU coach Bill Self said, “When you think that last years’ team had two of the top three NBA picks, I don’t see how we could be more talented but I do think we could have a better team. If things fall right, this definitely could be a better basketball team.”
Jim Vance, Claflin, “The Washington Redskins should change their name to the Washington Liberals. Then they won’t have to obey the rules if they don’t want to and any losses they sustain would be George Bush’s fault!”
