Wind blows past Great Bend Boom

GARDEN CITY — The Great Bend Boom baseball team continued its midseason slump with two losses to the Garden City Wind. The Boom (8-9) have lost seven of nine games after a stunning 6-2 start.

• WIND 5, BOOM 2 — The Wind beat ace pitcher D.J. Sharabi 5-2 Thursday at Clint Lightner Field. Eli Roundtree drove in three runs with a homer and double. Pitcher Marty Anderson struck out 12 batters and permitted one run.
The Boom’s Joe Quinones singled and doubled and reached base three times.
Nick Francis’ single drove home Joey Cecere in the first inning. Roundtree’s two-run homer drove home Clay Adreeder in the fourth inning. Cecere scored on a fourth-inning wild pitch for a 4-0 lead. Roundtree’s double drove in Ardeeser in the eighth inning.
Great Bend’s Logan Trowbridge doubled and scored on an eighth-inning error. Quinones scored on Towbridge’s ninth-inning groundout.
Joey Cecere delivered two hits.

• WIND 14, BOOM 4 — The Wind scored 14 runs on 21 hits at Al Burns Field. Sergio Leon led Great Bend with four hits and two RBIs. Logan Trowbridge, Matt Rembielak and Reece Bell each delivered two hits.
Nick Francis led the Wind with four hits and three RBIs. Clay Ardeeser drove in two runs.
