No COVID-19 cluster locations reported in Golden Belt

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Kansas has had 770,082 COVID-19 cases over the course of the pandemic, resulting in 20,052 hospitalizations and 8,293 statewide deaths. There were 232 new cases, 25 new hospitalizations and 72 new deaths reported since Monday, including one in Barton County.

Here are case totals for area counties as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, with any change since Monday:

• Pawnee 2,117 (+0)

• Rice 2,609 (+0)

• Rush 806 (+0)

• Russell 1,876 (-2)

• Stafford 1,136 (+0)


Area deaths

There was one new death related to COVID-19 reported Wednesday in Barton County. This was the first and only area death reported since Friday, March 18. Here are the COVID-related death totals for area counties as of 9 a.m. Wednesday:

• Barton 90 (+1) 

• Ellsworth 31

• Pawnee 24 

• Rice 22 

• Rush 18

• Russell 37 

• Stafford 26


Hospitalizations

The Great Bend Tribune also reports on COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties.

• As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Barton County has reported 178 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, including 32 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date, and 115 discharged patients reported to KDHE. These numbers reflect one new hospital admission, the first reported since Wednesday, March 24.

• Pawnee County has reported 77 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 51 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since March 11. 

• Stafford County has reported 36 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 23 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Jan. 5.


COVID-19 exposure locations

Every Wednesday, KDHE reports the locations that have had at leave five active COVID-19 cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. Only three locations were listed this week:

• KETCH, a group living home in Wichita, has had 22 cases in the last 14 days.

• Evergreen Community, a long-term care facility in Olathe, has had 12.

• The Minneola District Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Clark County has had seven.
