WICHITA — American State Bank & Trust Co. announces the opening of a new branch location in downtown Wichita late this year. The new location, at 430 E. Douglas, will be the bank’s headquarters location and will be home to a growing team. The bank will occupy the first floor of the building that is currently under construction which will also be home to IMA Financial Group.

“We have strong roots in Kansas, and have been part of Wichita for a long time. By bringing our commercial lending group together, we can build a stronger team, able to serve our current and future customers,” said President and CEO Doug Thurman. “We will have 25 employees in the new location, including two or three new positions.”

In 2018, Rose Hill Bank changed its name to American State Bank after years of common ownership. Currently, the bank has two locations in Wichita, one in Rose Hill and one in Augusta, as well 12 other branches across the state. “We have a great footprint in Kansas, but felt like we were missing that larger Wichita presence,” states Lee Borck, chairman. “By being a part of the downtown community, we want to make a statement that we are committed to the growth of Wichita and we believe in downtown. And we couldn’t have asked for a better location than the prominent Douglas and Emporia corner.”

The building was named by the Wichita Business Journal one of the top developments in Wichita in 2020, designed by Shelden Architecture and developed by TGC Group. “The excitement is building in anticipation of welcoming American State Bank & Trust to downtown Wichita,” said Nick Esterline, President and Founder of TGC Group. “The transformation of the corner of Douglas and Emporia is special to us because we see the vibrancy of downtown Wichita coming together creating opportunities for our community”.

In addition to commercial banking, the bank will have a full-service consumer bank including an ATM, night drop depository, a banking technology learning center and traditional in-person banking. “We want guests to have a great experience when they come into our bank. We will have comfortable seating where you can utilize free Wi-Fi, while enjoying a cup of coffee,” said bank chief marketing officer Terri Maus. “We believe in working face-to-face with customers, so you will find real people ready to help. And we want you to have fun while you are there. We will be showcasing some local art and are looking forward to having gatherings and unique events inside our space.”
