Watkins Calcara, Chartered, a law firm in Great Bend, announces Taylor Calcara has become a shareholder “partner” in the firm.
Taylor grew up in Great Bend, and is the son of Mark and Melanie Calcara. He is a 2005 graduate of Great Bend High School and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Finance from Kansas State University in 2009. There, he was active on campus, serving in leadership positions within his fraternity, as well as terms as a Greek Affairs Ambassador, a College of Business Ambassador, and a Student Senator representing the College of Business Administration in the Student Governing Association. While at K-State he also served internships for then Congressman, now Senator Jerry Moran in Washington, D.C. and with Koch Industries, Inc., in Wichita.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State, Taylor attended the University of Kansas School of Law. He graduated in May of 2012 in the top 12% of his class and was awarded a Business and Commercial Law certificate for his curriculum study. While at KU, Calcara was selected as the Editor-in-Chief of the Kansas Journal of Law & Public Policy and was the recipient of both the Bremyer Scholarship and the Bernard E. Nordling Scholarship. Since he joined the firm as an associate in 2012, he has been involved primarily in business, financial and real estate matters.
Mark Rondeau, Managing Shareholder of the firm, said “Taylor’s decision to forego more lucrative and high profile opportunities in Kansas City in order to ‘come home’ speaks volumes about what kind of person he is. He not only has the skill set and work ethic we demand, he has the same values. He has proven himself worthy and we are elated to welcome him as a partner.”
Taylor is admitted to practice before both the State and Federal Bar in Kansas and can be reached at the offices of Watkins Calcara Chtd., 1321 Main Street, in Great Bend (620) 792-8231.
