Regular customers at Office Products Inc. in downtown Great Bend may have done a double-take recently in the service department. The familiar face is that of Chris Frye, who has returned to OPI as a copier technician.
He previously worked at OPI from 2005 to 2008, and has 24 years experience in the office-equipment field.
"It is great to be back," Frye said. "OPI is a professional place to work and I always enjoy our customers."
During his first stint at OPI, Frye was one of several technicians to earn a prestigious certification by passing the Association of Technical Service Professionals (ATSP) exam.
"This is an example OPI’s commitment to offering employees the opportunities for the best training and the best credentials," Frye said, noting he is preparing to renew his ATSP certification.
"This background, plus 24 years in the profession have given me the expertise to repair virtually any machine," Frye added. "I started with the liquid copiers and have serviced many types of office equipment over the years. The advances in technology have been phenomenal but OPI allows us to keep up with it all."
Willie Spires, service manager, said OPI is fortunate that Frye decided to return from Colorado.
"We are tickled pink to have him back," Spires said. "Chris is an exceptional technician. He is a good addition to our team, which strives for excellence."
OPI is a Canon copier dealer and services a wide variety of office equipment; it also carries office supplies and furniture. It is located at 1204 Main in Great Bend, 516 Broadway in Larned and 724 N. Main in Russell.
