The public is invited to an evening of cancer awareness and support at this year’s “Shine A Light on Lung Cancer” event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16, at Heartland Cancer Center in Great Bend. Shine A Light will be held from 5-6 p.m. in the main patient area of Heartland Cancer Center, 204 Cleveland Street.
The annual free event offers an opportunity to learn and hear from health care experts, as well as lung cancer survivors. It serves as an hour of encouragement and reflection for survivors, family and friends, and it is a way to honor loved ones who have lost their battle with the disease.
Dr. Mark Fesen, medical oncologist with Central Care Cancer Center, who practices at Heartland Cancer Center, is this year’s featured speaker. He has practiced oncology in the central Kansas area for nearly 25 years and is the author of the book “Surviving the Cancer System: An Empowering Guide to Taking Control of Your Care.”
Refreshments will be served during Thursday’s Shine A Light event. Anyone touched by lung cancer in some way is encouraged to attend.
