A new poll by YouGov found when it comes to the American family, strictness is seen as a virtue, not a vice.

In fact, 74 percent of all those who asked what strictness level parents should be answered "fairly strict." The answers were pretty consistent along age demographics, except, of course, for one: millennials.

Though the majority of millennials (62 percent) still answered that "fairly strict" is the best option, 28 percent answered "not strict at all." That's the highest response in that category by far.

YouGov also found an interesting difference between what people consider to be the best parenting practices, and what they experienced themselves.

While 74 percent believe parents should be "fairly strict," only 48 percent of those surveyed believe that describes their upbringing. Both "not strict at all" and "very strict" were much better represented in this portion of the survey.

So what do you think? What's the perfect strictness of a parent?
