Hutchinson Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has been awarded the Blue Distinction Center+Maternity Care designation from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, a special designation awarded for delivering quality care and better overall outcomes for maternity and specialty care patients.
According to a statement issued by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the organization commended HRMC for delivering quality specialty care safely and effectively based on objective measures developed from input from the medical community and for achieving cost efficiency.
Also, HRMC was lauded for their effort to promote successful breastfeeding programs, overall patient satisfaction and a willingness of families to recommend the hospital to others.
Andrew C. Corbin, Blue Cross and Blue Shield President for Kansas, gave HRMC high praise for their efforts involving all forms of maternity care.
“Improving quality of care while attaining cost efficiency is integral to transforming the health care system, so we are proud to recognize Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for demonstrating higher levels of quality, expertise and efficiency resulting in better maternity care for our members,” Corbin said.
Jill White, RN BSN, Director of Patient Care Services and the Birthing Center at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, said she is honored to receive the Blue Distinction Center+Maternity care designation from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.
“The staff of the Birthing Center strives to provide high quality care to our patients and families,” White said. “We understand the importance of helping families start on the right foot and the impact we have on life long health.”
“The designation is confirmation that we are doing great things here at HRMC,” White continued.
Ken Johnson, President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said the honor is further reaffirmation of the care provided by the hospital’s Birthing Center and other entities within the healthcare system.
“Proper healthcare for newborns is a first step in the start of a long and healthy life, something our healthcare professionals at HRMC take seriously,” Johnson said. “Our staff continually strives to find new ways to improve the care of our patients of all ages and it is gratifying when these efforts are recognized by others.”
Hutchinson Regional Medical Center was one of 16 hospitals statewide to receive the award.
