While a Great Bend couple vacationed in Michigan this summer, Great Bend artist Sally Rychlec was busy painting a mural on the privacy fence in front of their home.

Rychlec puts her artistic talent to work with her business, Just Paint It. She specializes in small jobs such as murals for the house and garden, faux finishes, stenciling, decoupage, columns and hand painted furniture. She said she especially enjoyed painting the fence for her friends Phil and Maribeth Miller, because she had a big canvas where she could create a scene of sunflowers, butterflies and other details.

Maribeth Miller said she’d wanted a mural on her fence, which faces Monroe Street, for quite awhile. After seeing the finished project, she thought others would want to read about "a local artist doing something very unique in our community."

Rychlec is a member of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce. She can be reached by calling 620-617-6676, or e-mail at JustPaintItSally@yahoo.com.
