Sunflower Bank has promoted Mike Briney to President of the Hays region. In this capacity, Briney will be responsible for developing and nurturing commercial relationships in the markets of Hays, Victoria, Russell, Great Bend, Ellinwood and Osborne. Briney’s previous position was commercial and agricultural lender.
Briney, a 7-year Sunflower Bank veteran, provides the bank with 25 years of financial experience in central and western Kansas, predominantly with agricultural and small businesses, but also with manufacturing, construction and oil industries.
“Mike is a natural fit for this region of the bank.” said Sandy Jacobs, Executive Vice President of Sunflower Bank. “His background of accounting, mixed with his charisma, knowledge and experience provides the perfect combination for overseeing our commercial relationships. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s a farmer from western Kansas!” said Jacobs with a grin.
Throughout his career, Briney has been active in several community organizations, including: Hays Ambassadors, Heartland Catbackers, Hays Kiwanis, Hays Chamber of commerce, and former chairman and director of the Ellis County Extension Council . Briney attended Kansas State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting. Briney is married with two children, one grandchild and resides in Hays.
