The Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference recognized several Alliance Water Resources employees at their annual state conference in early August. Evan Romo, Michael Shi, and Daniel Rogers were all recognized at the event, reaffirming a company culture of fostering professional growth in the water and wastewater industry.
“The Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference strives to seek out deserving operators to recognize,” said MWWC Executive Director Sandy Miller. “When they are nominated, award recipients receive affirmation not only from the MWWC, but also from the company that they represent.”
Romo and Shi were awarded the Outstanding Young Professional Award given in recognition of performance in the field and for going the extra mile to finish jobs efficiently and completely.
Romo began his career with Alliance working in Parkville, Mo. Within a year, the company recognized his potential and promoted him to lead operator and manager. Today, he works as Alliance’s Local Manager for the PWSD #1 of Lincoln County.
Shi, a licensed wastewater plant operator for the PWSD #3 of Franklin County, has been with Alliance for nearly a year. His recent recognition came as no shock to his Division Manager, Terry Merritt.
“Michael is the kind of person who strives to gain knowledge,” said Merritt. “Already, he has demonstrated that he will make a great operator as he continues to learn.”
Carrol County PWSD #1 Local Manager Daniel Rogers was awarded the Kramer Award. Recipients of this award exemplify the same high goals and standards of Dr. Warren A. Kramer whose basic philosophy was, “The only way to improve water and wastewater systems is to obtain better operators through training.”
Romo, Shi, and Rogers are the latest examples of Alliance’s “grow your own” philosophy. This focus on internal improvement has resulted in recognition from the MWWC in the past. Award recipients including Josh Willison (PWSD #1 and #3 of Franklin County), Rob Fischer (PWSD #2 of St. Charles County), and Brandon Gilbert (O’Fallon, MO) date back to 2010.
