When an Office Products Inc. customer is wondering how to equip a workplace or home environment, Tom Curran is the go-to guy. His colleagues have long known about his furniture and design capabilities, and now he has received a prestigious award for his efforts, said Jim Grabbe, OPI sales manager.
Curran was recently recognized with the Outstanding Sales Achievement Award from Lorell, which is a brand of merchandise offered at OPI.
“This company rewards individuals and companies that increase their business by more than 15 percent,” Grabbe said. “Tom increased growth by 29 percent from 2011 to 2012. This demonstrates that his expertise is appreciated.”
Curran noted that traditional office furnishings, such as desks, chairs and computer tables are available.
“However, we can also provide hospitality furniture, seating arrangements, dining tables and conference tables,” Curran said. “If you need a 20-foot conference table, we can oblige. It is not just desks, bookcases and file cabinets.”
Curran talks with customers about their ideas and offers suggestions of his own — whether it be something brand new or a remodeling.
“We collaborate with the customer from the initial idea to the installation,” Curran said, noting a wide price range fits any budget. “We will go on-site to measure and envision what the customer wants, while considering ergonomics, efficiency, comfort and safety.
“There are a lot of design details to consider,” he added. “It is not just the physical dimensions but also the locations of windows, doors and other items that affect the environment.”
OPI can offer a 3-D digital line-drawing so the customer can get a better idea of what the area will look like, Curran said.
The family-owned business carries a wide selection of in-house inventory but a customer may also order from its catalog. In some cases, a special order will arrive in a day or two.
Curran has been employed at OPI for almost 24 years in a variety of sales departments, including supplies, furniture and equipment. He works at the 1204 Main location in Great Bend. He can also accommodate customers at OPI’s other locations — 516 Broadway in Larned and 724 N. Main in Russell.
