Eagles sweep Kinsley/Macksville
KINSLEY – Ellinwood’s baseball team swept Kinsley/Macksville 6-4 and 9-2 in Thursday’s doubleheader at windswept Kinsley. Ellinwood (7-11) drops Kinsley to 7-7.
ELLINWOOD 6, KINSLEY 4 (G1) – Ellinwood’s Cohen Gunn delivered two big at-bats to bring home three runs for the Eagles. Bryan Jaske (2-3, 4.57 ERA) earned the victory and Cohen Gunn earned the save. Jaske has 32 strikeouts in 25 innings.
The Eagles led 2-0 when Trace Tudor’s groundball scored Campbell Coleman and Jaske scored on an error.
Kinsley’s Diego Esparza scored on Kendall Grippin’s groundout and Woodrow Lancaster scored on a passed ball for a 2-2 tie.
Tudor and Banks Jacobs scored on Cohen Gunn’s groundball for a 4-2 lead in the fourth. Cohen Gunn singled home Tudor and Jacobs scored on Drake Hosman’s single for a 6-2 lead.
Kinsley’s Ty Clawson and Esparza scored on Grippin’s fifth-inning single.
ELLINWOOD 9, KINSLEY 2 (G2) – Ellinwood pitcher Tudor (4-3, 2.71 ERA) struck out 10 Kinsley batters in a 9-2 victory. Tudor has 39 strikeouts in 31 innings.
Coleman doubled twice and drove in three runs. Drake Hosman, Jaske and Tudor also drove in runs.
Kinsley’s Hector Gomez drove in Conner Chamberlain and Lancaster scored on an error.
Through 18 games, Campbell is batting .478 (22 for 46); Jaske .327 (18 for 55) and Cooper Gunn .327 (18 for 55).
