Five stylists at Renue Salon & Spa, 1419 Main, teamed up and started a month-long project to raise money for patients at Heartland Cancer Center. The result was a $400 donation that will directly benefit local patients.
“Heartland Cancer Center is near and dear to all of us,” said Allene Owen, Renue manager. “It has touched us all in one way or another. There are so many needs that are not covered by insurance and we wanted to show our support.”
Owen contributed during the fundraising campaign, while four other stylists donated a portion of their income from manicures and pedicures. They are Angie Liebl, Lisa Linsner, Kaylee Dreiling and Lexie Schneider.
“I am so grateful to be working with talented professionals who also want to give back to their community,” Owen said. “Their generous spirit is appreciated.”
Jamie Hutchinson, R.N., director of Heartland Cancer Center, said the Renue stylists can be assured that patients are grateful for this donation.
“Contributions such as this mean everything to our cancer patients and their families,” Hutchinson said. “They help us make life a little easier for people who are facing a difficult time.”
Heartland Cancer Center is part of the St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center family. St. Rose is under the umbrella of Centura Health, which connects individuals and families across western Kansas and Colorado with more than 6,000 physicians, 15 hospitals, seven senior-living communities, physician practices and clinics, and home-care and hospice services.
