The Grow Workforce Employer and Job Seeker Summit quickly approaching, and job seekers are encouraged to attend both days. This unique summit will empower and support job seekers through a special Career Success Workshop, resume assistance on-site and more.

The two-day event kicks-off April 20 with training and resources for the serious job seeker, followed by two very different job fairs on April 27. These events will all take place at the Great Bend Events Center with job seekers from across the state invited to participate. Registration is live at https://www.gbedinc.com/workforcesummit.

On April 20 a Career Success Workshop will be held and include lunch to those who have registered. During the Career Success Workshop, led by KansasWorks, job seekers will get support and training to help in a competitive job market. Job seekers will learn what employers are looking for today and how to apply those characteristics to be successful in the job market. This workshop is provided to teach job seekers to master the soft skills necessary to land their dream job.

There is no cost to attend the Career Success Workshop, but all job seekers must register to receive lunch and relevant training materials. Registrations should be completed at gbedinc.com/workforcejobsummitjobseekers.

Following a successful day one, job seekers are invited to attend day two on April 27 where they’ll have two distinctly different options to explore potential job opportunities. Job seekers serious about their search can apply to participate in a Reverse Job Fair allowing them to position themselves as a standout job seeker and move to the front of employers’ resume piles.

Laura Patzner, One Stop Operator with KansasWorks, explained what a reverse job fair is.

“A reverse job fair is an opportunity for job seekers to create a booth to advertise themselves and let employers come to them – flipping the table. It’s a unique way to stand out and really connect skills with a chosen career path.”

To participate in the reverse job fair portion, job seekers should email their resume to admin@gbedinc.com. Those looking for resume assistance can connect with KansasWorks in downtown Great Bend for one-on-one resume help.

A traditional Job Fair will follow from 3-6 p.m. for anyone wishing to visit with employers about open positions. The KansasWorks Bus will also be on-site to provide resume assistance. Door prizes and food trucks will be available for those in attendance.
