Rosewood Services Inc. opened its doors 14 years ago as a small agency with a new approach to serving people with developmental disabilities. Clients and guardians alike have responded favorably since that time. The small start-up back then has evolved into the largest agency in the southwest region of Kansas today, according to Tammy Hammond, Rosewood’s founder and executive director.
In appreciation for their clients, Rosewood’s employees served up food and fun during an afternoon picnic on the “Outback Lawn” at Rosewood on May 25, celebrating 14 years of success together.
“The appreciation picnic was a great way to celebrate our folks and thank them for allowing us to be a part of their lives,” said Amanda Fellers, Residential Services director at Rosewood. “Without them, there would be no Rosewood Services.”
More than 150 hamburgers were grilled by Rosewood Ranch manager Eric Hammond. The hamburgers, along with baked beans, chips and salad, were served by Residential and Management Teams.
“It was nice of everyone to cook for us and plan the picnic,” said Rosewood client Dick Warner. “Lunch was really good, especially the hamburgers.”
The Day Services Team offered relay races, soccer, human tic-tac-toe, and hula-hoop games. The afternoon also provided opportunity for clients to enjoy an afternoon off from work and activities in order to visit with the one another and staff members.
“Our clients are at the heart of everything we do at Rosewood,” Tammy Hammond said. “At Team Rosewood, they are our most valuable players and the reason behind our success. It’s an honor to recognize each and every one of them every day, but it’s especially rewarding for them when we set aside one day to recognize them.”
Demonstrating that aspect, Rosewood handed out T-shirts to each client with the acronym “MVP” printed on each shirt.
The “Celebration Committee” organized the day’s events. The committee is comprised of Jennifer Stoddard, Erika Julian, Melonie Myers, Amanda Fellers, Anna Hammond and Erin Rupp.
“The committee put extra effort and care into making this an outstanding picnic for our clients,” said Tammy Hammond. “I thank everyone who worked as a team to make the event memorable and fun for all who attended. It was obvious that the clients truly enjoyed the special details provided during their special day.”
