“Dedicated to serving” and “making a difference.” These, and more, are the qualities possessed by Rosewood’s latest “Shining Stars.” Tammy Hammond, Executive Director of Rosewood, recently announced that Erika Julian (Senior Residential Manager) and Paula Fellers (Rosewood Furniture Gallery Assistant) were chosen by their peers to receive the award for the first quarter of 2011.
Erika was nominated because she and another dedicated staff person spent eight hours of their free time cooking a lavish Christmas dinner for Rosewood clients during the holiday season.  She was also nominated for her can-do attitude and determination.  Erika possesses qualities that permitted her to quickly rise to her present position of Senior Residential Manager, a job with no shortage of responsibility.  What Erika says is most satisfying about her work is “seeing the clients’ progress on a day-to-day, week-to-week and month-to-month basis.”  And Erika is quick to point out that the other staff members on her team deserve the Shining Star as much as she does.  “I couldn’t do it without them,” she stated emphatically.  Erika is married with two children and is also a coach for Special Olympics.  In her spare time, she travels to McPherson to visit with family as often as possible.
Paula was nominated for her contributions to the Kiwanis Aktion Club annual Spaghetti Feed, one of the major fundraising events for the club.  She volunteered several hours of her own time the evening before, ensuring the event was a success.  Her supervisor, Debbie Larkin, says that, “Paula is very dependable.  She always has a positive work attitude and her good mood and smile are contagious!”  Paula is married to Terry Fellers, a Christian Musician, and has two grown children, Jennifer Stoddard and Josh Fellers.  She loves spending time with her granddaughters Lily and Hazel in her free time.
The SHINING STARS employee recognition program honors employees who go “above and beyond” their normal work duties to assist clients and coworkers.  Tammy Hammond, who founded Rosewood twelve years ago, expressed her pride in Julian and Fellers, stating, “We couldn’t be an agency of excellence without the quality of people who work at Rosewood.”
