SCOTT CITY – Wheatland Electric will once again play a major role in fulfilling Christmas wishes for nearly 100 children in need through Saint Francis Ministries’ Christmas for Kids program.

In addition to delivering a $1,000 Sharing Success grant to the non-for-profit organization that exists to provide healing and hope to children and families, 44 Wheatland employees and a handful of trustees sponsored exactly 99 children for the holidays this year.

This is the fifth year in a row (since 2017) that the cooperative leadership and employees have opened their hearts to fulfill the holiday wish lists of children in need across the southwest and central Kansas service territory, including Finney, Wichita, Greeley, Scott, Hamilton, Kearney and Barton counties.

The grant funds will be directed to assist the faith-based organization with its Christmas mission. Along with family preservation services, foster care, and adoption assistance, the multi-state regional organization also offers several residential programs that serve those with mental health and behavioral issues, adults with intellectual and development disabilities, and even survivors of human trafficking.
