Wheatland Electric will host Cram the Van events this week
NEW Wheatland color with tag-FINAL

Wheatland Electric will host its annual Cram the Van food drive with a donation drive-in on Friday, Oct. 16 in Great Bend. Due to this year’s health and safety challenges, Wheatland will host Cram the Van as a drive-through event with a donation drop-off and meal pick-up between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Great Bend Events Center parking lot, 3111 10th St. Members can drive through the designated area to drop off their donation – cash or can – and pick up a meal (choice of hamburger or hot dog, chips, and a cookie) without having to exit their vehicle.

In addition to standard safety steps, employees and volunteers will be wearing masks and encouraging everyone in attendance to maintain a safe social distance.

Monetary donations to Cram the Van can also be made online at https://www.weci.net/cram-van-food-drive, and members can specify the agency they wish to benefit from their contribution. All donations made during the Oct. 16 drive-through event will be delivered to the Community Food Bank of Barton County. Food donations will also be accepted during the month of October at each of Wheatland’s local offices.

In addition to the community drive-in event on Oct. 16, Wheatland Electric is partnering with Hiss-Sherman Wealth Management to once again host the Great Bend Cram the Van School Competition from Oct. 12-16. Schools will compete against one another for cash prizes, which are awarded to schools based on the most weight in donations per student. In 2019, Great Bend collected over 10,200 pounds of food.
